EQT V and GIC agree to acquire Springer

EQT V and GIC are set to acquire Springer Science+Business Media from current owners, private equity investors Candover and Cinven.

EQT V and GIC Special Investments (GICI), the private equity arm of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), have agreed to acquire 100 percent of Springer Science+Business Media from its current owners Candover and Cinven. EQT V is to buy 82 percent and GICSI to buy 18 percent of Springer, leader in the digitization of scientific information and the world’s second-largest scientific, technical and medical publisher.

The transaction is subject to customary conditions such as regulatory approvals and is expected to close by late January/early February 2010.
