Barista Fair Trade Coffee attracts SEK 17 million

Cafè chain Barista Fair Trade Coffee has received more than SEK 17 million in venture capital from Almi Invest, Invest Alveco and entrepreneur Hakan Roos, as well as five further business angels. The new funding will allow the company to expand faster.

Barista was founded in 2006 by Bjorn Almér, Nina Forsberg, Maria Andersson. The chain´s commitment to only use 100 percent Arabica beans has earned it a silver medal in the 2009 Swedish Championships and the company has rapidly gained market share and is currently the fourth largest chain in Sweden.

The 12-unit cafe has about 100 employees and annual sales of SEK 40 million per year.
