- What should you consider before choosing private equity owners?

As an entrepreneur you typically lack experience with fiduciary contracts and you should be aware that teaming up with a private equity fund means cooperating with a very professional investor. 

- How did you approach the selection process?

We developed our product and launched it on the market before we brought in capital. We wanted to make the product, the idea and the people in the company visible first. This has taught us to build brick by brick, rather than starting up with large sums of capital. When we were ready to bring in new owners, we contacted several investors before opting for Verdane. They knew our market, our product, and the company´s development and they were large enough to contribute with the capital we required.

- Any good advice on how to work with private equity owners?

Keep your head cool and remember that without the entrepreneurs and the right individuals, nothing will happen. Financial capital is essential, but knowledge, innovation and drive related to human capital, is the most important type of capital in any technology company.

- How has private equity ownership affected your company?

We have continued to grow and have gained access to some very resourceful individuals through a very competent board of directors. In addition to injecting fresh capital, private equity owners also help you gain new perspectives and identify new opportunities.
