There are several hundred funds in the Nordic region.
A fund manager usually manages several funds. Before a new fund is raised, the fund manager will establish a fund target size (e.g. EUR 600 million), geographic and industry focus as well as an investment strategy.
Normally, a private equity fund will have a limited lifespan, usually between 8-12 years. During this time, the fund managers shall have had sufficient time to invest, develop and exit the portfolio companies. By and large, the manager will raise a new fund after an agreed period or after a agreed percentage of the predecessor fund is invested.
